  1. Lines and fittings (suspension)

NHTSA 98V255000 Reported 95,013 vehicles potentially affected VOLVO TRUCKS NORTH AMERICA INC

Vehicle description: class 8 heavy duty trucks. The air suspension control valve supply line was not plumbed through an air pressure protection valve. In the event of a failure, there would be loss of air pressure in the 'b' system air reservoir that supplies air pressure for the front steer axle brakes.

Remedy: Dealers will install the necessary air pressure protection valve.

  2. Linkages (steering)

NHTSA 95V038000 Reported 1,157 vehicles potentially affected VOLVO GM HEAVY TRUCK CORP

The wrong ball socket assembly was used to attach the steering arms to both the steering drag link and the steering RAM assist cylinder, resulting in a binding condition.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the ball socket assembly on the affected vehicles.

  3. Steering wheel/handle bar (steering)

NHTSA 94V038000 Reported 3,768 vehicles potentially affected VOLVO GM HEAVY TRUCK CORP

The brackets that attach the steering column assembly to the cab structure cracks at the "v" notch in the bracket.

Remedy: Volvo GM will replace the suspect brackets with a newly designed bracket.

How do I know if my 1993 White GMC Wcm has an open recall?

Enter your 17-character VIN above. The VIN is on the driver's side dashboard (visible through the windshield), the driver's door jamb sticker, and your registration or insurance card. The check runs against NHTSA's live database and tells you which campaigns list your vehicle. 3 campaigns currently list the 1993 White GMC Wcm; your car may already have been repaired under some of them.

Is the recall repair free?

Yes. Under federal law, manufacturers must fix safety recalls at no charge for vehicles up to 15 years old from the date of sale to the first owner. Contact any authorised White GMC dealer with your VIN and the NHTSA campaign number (for example 94V038000).

What is the difference between a recall and a complaint?

A recall is a safety campaign filed by the manufacturer or ordered by NHTSA, with a defined defect and remedy. A complaint is a report an owner sent to NHTSA; it is not verified, but patterns of complaints are what trigger NHTSA investigations and, eventually, recalls.

Recall counts are safety campaigns that list this model year; whether a particular car was already repaired depends on its VIN. How this data is compiled.
