RecallMyCar is a product of Goods Media LLC. These terms cover recallmycar.com. In short: the site shows public NHTSA data for information only, it is not professional advice, and you should confirm any result for your own vehicle with a dealer or NHTSA before relying on it.

Information only

RecallMyCar shows recall and owner complaint information from NHTSA's public databases and fuel economy ratings from the EPA. A scheduled job downloads the NHTSA and EPA files every day, aggregates them, and rebuilds every page on the site; new recalls typically appear within a day of NHTSA publishing them. A complaint is one owner's report; it is not investigated or verified before publication. NHTSA's records and the manufacturer's recall notices take precedence over anything on this site.

The VIN check decodes your VIN with NHTSA's vPIC service, queries NHTSA's recall API live, and shows what NHTSA returns at that moment. A model-year page lists the campaigns that cover that model year; a campaign can cover a model year without every car being affected, and many cars have already been repaired. A result with no open recalls is not a guarantee that none apply to your vehicle: recalls can be issued at any time, and a recall filed under a related model name may not appear. Confirm with a dealer for your vehicle's brand or with NHTSA at nhtsa.gov/recalls before relying on a result.

Not professional advice

Nothing on RecallMyCar is mechanical, safety-inspection, legal or other professional advice, and using the site does not create a professional or advisory relationship with Goods Media LLC. You are responsible for the VIN you enter, for confirming results for your vehicle with a dealer or NHTSA, and for every decision you make with them. You use the site and act on its content at your own risk.

No warranty

The site and its content are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Goods Media LLC works to present NHTSA and EPA data accurately and corrects confirmed errors in how it is presented, but the underlying records can contain mistakes, and the VIN check works only when NHTSA's services are available. The footer of each page states which data snapshot it was built from.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Goods Media LLC and its members, employees and contractors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of property, profits, data or business, arising from use of or inability to use the site or reliance on its content, even if advised of the possibility. Because the site is free, Goods Media LLC's total liability for any claim related to the site is limited to one hundred US dollars ($100). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limits; where that is so, these limits apply to the extent allowed.

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Goods Media LLC against claims, losses and costs, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your misuse of the site or your breach of these terms.

Sources, links and trademarks

Pages cite and link to third-party sources such as NHTSA and the EPA. Goods Media LLC does not control those sites and is not responsible for their content, accuracy or availability; their own terms apply. Citing a source does not mean its publisher endorses RecallMyCar. RecallMyCar is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by NHTSA, the EPA or any vehicle manufacturer. Make and model names are trademarks of their owners and are used only to identify vehicles.

Advertising

The site is supported by advertising. Ads are provided by third parties, and an ad on a page does not mean Goods Media LLC endorses the advertiser or what it sells. Advertisers have no influence over the data shown. The privacy policy explains how ad providers may use cookies.

Using the content

You may use the site for your own purposes and print pages, and links to any page are welcome. The underlying records (NHTSA recalls and complaints, EPA fuel economy ratings) are public U.S. government data and are not owned by anyone. The site's design, text and compiled presentation are © Goods Media LLC; please do not republish pages or tables wholesale.

General

These terms may change; the date on this page shows the last update, and continued use of the site means you accept the current version. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, and any dispute will be heard in the state or federal courts in Maricopa County, Arizona.
