  1. Linkages (steering)

NHTSA 93V172000 Reported 500 vehicles potentially affected PACCAR, INCORPORATED

These trucks do not have the proper cutout in the front drop rail section of the frame rail. Without the proper cutout, the steering driveline grease fitting will interfere with the flange of the chassis rail.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect for proper cutout and adequate clearance with the grease fitting. If adequate clearance does not exist, a cutout will be added to the drop rail.

  2. Linkages (visibility)

NHTSA 91V090000 Reported 15,000 vehicles potentially affected PACCAR, INCORPORATED

Sprague wiper assembly pivot can seize due to galvanic corrosion between the zinc-plated steel shaft and the bronze bushings.

Remedy: Replace sprague wiper assembly pivot with an assembly not susceptible to galvanic corrosion.

  3. Fan (engine and engine cooling)

NHTSA 91V066000 Reported 997 vehicles potentially affected PACCAR, INCORPORATED

The engine fan may experience a resonant frequency causing premature fan failure, and separation from the engine.

Remedy: Replace engine fan with fan from another manufacturer.

Checking a specific 1991 Kenworth W900B

How do I know if my 1991 Kenworth W900B has an open recall?

Enter your 17-character VIN above. The VIN is on the driver's side dashboard (visible through the windshield), the driver's door jamb sticker, and your registration or insurance card. The check runs against NHTSA's live database and tells you which campaigns list your vehicle. 3 campaigns currently list the 1991 Kenworth W900B; your car may already have been repaired under some of them.

Is the recall repair free?

Yes. Under federal law, manufacturers must fix safety recalls at no charge for vehicles up to 15 years old from the date of sale to the first owner. Contact any authorised Kenworth dealer with your VIN and the NHTSA campaign number (for example 91V066000).

What is the difference between a recall and a complaint?

A recall is a safety campaign filed by the manufacturer or ordered by NHTSA, with a defined defect and remedy. A complaint is a report an owner sent to NHTSA; it is not verified, but patterns of complaints are what trigger NHTSA investigations and, eventually, recalls.

Recall counts are safety campaigns that list this model year; whether a particular car was already repaired depends on its VIN. How this data is compiled.
