  1. Linkages (vehicle speed control)

NHTSA 92V118000 Reported 3,200 vehicles potentially affected HOLIDAY RAMBLER CORP.

A leak of either gasoline or propane can occur in components of the dual fuel system. This condition is primarily the result of the configuration and location of components in areas where high temperatures are being generated by the engine and exhaust systems.

Remedy: Remove the dual fuel system components, seal the propane tank liquid withdrawal valve, and restore a viable gasoline fuel delivery system.

  2. Hoses, lines/piping, and fittings (service brakes)

NHTSA 86V125000 Reported 7,994 vehicles potentially affected HOLIDAY RAMBLER CORP.

Inadequate fastening of the brackets to the frame rail for holding the hydraulic brake and gas return lines may allow flexing and possible chafing of the line. Consequence of defect: lines could wear through and rupture resulting in (1) leakage of gasoline which is a fire hazard and/or (2) loss of hydraulic fluid, causing loss of brakes…

Remedy: Install appropriate fasteners/brackets to secure the lines to the frame rail.

  3. Tank assembly (fuel system)

NHTSA 85V016000 Reported 600 vehicles potentially affected HOLIDAY RAMBLER CORP.

Seam leaks may develop in the 70 gallon aluminum fuel tank, allowing gasoline to spill on the ground. This is due to poor seam welding. Consequence of defect. Gasoline spillage creates a fire hazard.

Remedy: Install a new fuel tank.

  4. Delivery (fuel system)

NHTSA 83V031000 Reported 1,587 vehicles potentially affected HOLIDAY RAMBLER CORP.

The fuel switch on the dual fuel control has been wired incorrectly. The switch was wired in such a way that the driver could be pumping propane to the carburetor.

Remedy: The dealer will rewire the fuel select switch at no charge to owner.

Checking a specific 1983 Holiday Rambler Aluma Lite

How do I know if my 1983 Holiday Rambler Aluma Lite has an open recall?

Enter your 17-character VIN above. The VIN is on the driver's side dashboard (visible through the windshield), the driver's door jamb sticker, and your registration or insurance card. The check runs against NHTSA's live database and tells you which campaigns list your vehicle. 4 campaigns currently list the 1983 Holiday Rambler Aluma Lite; your car may already have been repaired under some of them.

Is the recall repair free?

Yes. Under federal law, manufacturers must fix safety recalls at no charge for vehicles up to 15 years old from the date of sale to the first owner. Contact any authorised Holiday Rambler dealer with your VIN and the NHTSA campaign number (for example 83V031000).

What is the difference between a recall and a complaint?

A recall is a safety campaign filed by the manufacturer or ordered by NHTSA, with a defined defect and remedy. A complaint is a report an owner sent to NHTSA; it is not verified, but patterns of complaints are what trigger NHTSA investigations and, eventually, recalls.

Recall counts are safety campaigns that list this model year; whether a particular car was already repaired depends on its VIN. How this data is compiled.
