All Ford Granada recalls (17)

Every NHTSA safety campaign that lists a Ford Granada, most recent first, with the model years each one covers.

  1. Fan (engine and engine cooling)

NHTSA 84V078000 Reported 810,000 vehicles potentially affected FORD MOTOR COMPANY

Blades may crack and may, over a period of time, loosen from fan assembly.

Remedy: Fan assembly will be replaced without charge.

    Model years: 1978, 1979

  2. Mounting (fuel system)

NHTSA 83V050000 Reported 170 vehicles potentially affected FORD MOTOR COMPANY

Some of the involved vehicles may have been produced with improperly welded fuel tank support straps. Under certain collision conditions, these straps may not be able to support the fuel tank and leaks could develop.

Remedy: Dealer will inspect the fuel tank retaining straps for type of welds and, if necessary, replace them at no charge to owner.

    Model years: 1982

  3. Hoses, lines/piping, and fittings (fuel system)

NHTSA 82V031000 Reported 116 vehicles potentially affected FORD MOTOR COMPANY

Some of the suspect vehicles may have been produced with improperly tightened propane fuel system fittings in the engine compartment; fuel leakage could occur.

Remedy: Dealer will inspect, replace, and seal certain fuel system connections at no cost to owner.

    Model years: 1982

  4. Labels (equipment)

NHTSA 81V151000 Reported 3,010 vehicles potentially affected FORD MOTOR COMPANY

Incorrect information on tire placards constitutes a failure to comply with federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 110, "tire selection and rims". The information concerning tire sizes and inflation pressures is applicable to both two and four door sedans. The statement covers four door but fails to specify two door sedans.

Remedy: Revised placards will be installed by owners, or by dealers without charge.

    Model years: 1982

  5. Windshield (visibility)

NHTSA 79V272000 Reported 56 vehicles potentially affected FORD MOTOR COMPANY

Windshields may have been installed on these vehicles without the application of a butyl primer on the mounting surface of the glazing. The primer is required to ensure adequate retention of the windshield to its opening flange. This constitutes a non-compliance with federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 212, "windshield mounting".

Remedy: Dealer will reinstall the windshield correctly without charge to owner.

    Model years: 1979

  6. Pedals and linkages (service brakes)

NHTSA 79V117000 Reported 82,000 vehicles potentially affected FORD MOTOR COMPANY

The involved vehicles were produced with brake push-rod to brake pedal retaining pins which were not heat-treated as specified. This could allow the brake pedal to become disengaged from the push-rod.

Remedy: Dealer will replace the suspect brake retaining pin.

    Model years: 1979

  7. Fan (engine and engine cooling)

NHTSA 78V226000 Reported 120,000 vehicles potentially affected FORD MOTOR COMPANY

The engine cooling fan blades may crack under high speed operating conditions. Fragments may separate and damage the engine components, and if the hood is open and the engine is running, blade fragments could fly out from the vehicle and injure nearby persons.

Remedy: The dealer will, where necessary, install a new fan free of charge.

    Model years: 1976, 1977

  8. Gear box (other than rack and pinion) (steering)

NHTSA 77V218000 Reported 40,000 vehicles potentially affected FORD MOTOR COMPANY

On the involved vehicles, the manual steering gears may contain steering gear recirculatory balls that could fracture. This fracturing is a result of improper heat-treatment during manufacture and can eventually cause increased steering effort.

Remedy: The dealer will inspect and, if necessary, replace the ball bearings of the steering gear, without charge to owner.

    Model years: 1977

  9. Filler pipe and cap (fuel system)

NHTSA 77V146000 Reported 290,000 vehicles potentially affected FORD MOTOR COMPANY

The fuel filler caps on the involved vehicles may fail to meet the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 301, "fuel system integrity". In the event of a rear-end collision, fuel leakage may occur.

Remedy: Owner will be sent an improved fuel filler cap to replace the defective cap. Owner may install it himself, or have it installed by dealer, without charge.

    Model years: 1977

  10. Column shift (power train)

NHTSA 77V140000 Reported 9,000 vehicles potentially affected FORD MOTOR COMPANY

The involved vehicles were fitted with tilt steering columns containing transmission control inserts intended for trucks rather than passenger vehicles. This may cause the transmission selector pointer to be misaligned and the possibility of starting the engine when the selector is between the neutral (n) and drive (d) detents and the…

Remedy: Dealer will inspect and, if necessary, replace the transmission shift control insert, without charge to owner.
