  1. Seats

NHTSA 96V126001 Reported 11,371 vehicles potentially affected BLUE BIRD BODY COMPANY

Vehicle description: school buses equipped with bostrom driver's seat model f222 or bostrum "routemaster" seat. Blue bird option 2821 or 2824. The seat pedestals are fatigue cracking adjacent to the weld which secures the pedestal's upper plate to the upper, telescoping portion of the adjustable column support.

Remedy: Dealers will repair these pedestals with a newly designed pedestal bracket kit.

  2. Glass, side/rear (visibility)

NHTSA 96V023000 Reported 117 vehicles potentially affected BLUE BIRD BODY COMPANY

These vehicles could have a latch which scrapes an aluminum trim piece increasing the force required to open. This does not comply with FMVSS no. 217, "bus window retention and release."

Remedy: Dealers will install a new cam lock plate.

  3. Linkages (steering)

NHTSA 95V036000 Reported 2,714 vehicles potentially affected BLUE BIRD BODY COMPANY

Quench cracks occurred in the pitman arm pinch bolt during the bolt manufacturing process, causing a weakness in these bolts.

Remedy: Blue bird will provide replacement bolts for all affected units.

Checking a specific 1995 Blue Bird Csre

How do I know if my 1995 Blue Bird Csre has an open recall?

Enter your 17-character VIN above. The VIN is on the driver's side dashboard (visible through the windshield), the driver's door jamb sticker, and your registration or insurance card. The check runs against NHTSA's live database and tells you which campaigns list your vehicle. 3 campaigns currently list the 1995 Blue Bird Csre; your car may already have been repaired under some of them.

Is the recall repair free?

Yes. Under federal law, manufacturers must fix safety recalls at no charge for vehicles up to 15 years old from the date of sale to the first owner. Contact any authorised Blue Bird dealer with your VIN and the NHTSA campaign number (for example 95V036000).

What is the difference between a recall and a complaint?

A recall is a safety campaign filed by the manufacturer or ordered by NHTSA, with a defined defect and remedy. A complaint is a report an owner sent to NHTSA; it is not verified, but patterns of complaints are what trigger NHTSA investigations and, eventually, recalls.

Recall counts are safety campaigns that list this model year; whether a particular car was already repaired depends on its VIN. How this data is compiled.
