  1. Lines and fittings (suspension)

NHTSA 98V255000 Reported 95,013 vehicles potentially affected VOLVO TRUCKS NORTH AMERICA INC

Vehicle description: class 8 heavy duty trucks. The air suspension control valve supply line was not plumbed through an air pressure protection valve. In the event of a failure, there would be loss of air pressure in the 'b' system air reservoir that supplies air pressure for the front steer axle brakes.

Remedy: Dealers will install the necessary air pressure protection valve.

  2. Foundation components (service brakes)

NHTSA 96V157000 Reported 149 vehicles potentially affected VOLVO TRUCKS NORTH AMERICA INC

The rear most axle of the tandem axle set could have inoperable brakes on one or both wheels because the brake s-cam was incorrectly installed.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect the brake system and repair the s-cam assembly if found reversed.

  3. Service brakes, air

NHTSA 96V095000 Reported 771 vehicles potentially affected VOLVO TRUCKS NORTH AMERICA INC

The traction solenoid exhaust can be obstructed due to inadequate drainage and a build-up of road contamination between the mounting bracket and the solenoid housing. The obstructed exhaust prevents the relay valve control air pressure from venting after a differential braking traction event.

Remedy: Dealers will remove the suspect valve and install a new valve that has a modified solenoid housing which will allow for sufficient drainage and a new valve mounting bracket with increased height to reduce entry of…

  4. Air suspension system (suspension)

NHTSA 96V032000 Reported 6,034 vehicles potentially affected VOLVO TRUCKS NORTH AMERICA INC

The rear suspension axle retention plate can break under normal use, affecting axle alignment.

Remedy: Dealers will remove and replace the axle retention clip plates on affected vehicles.

  5. Idler and attachment (steering)

NHTSA 95V119000 Reported 175 vehicles potentially affected VOLVO GM HEAVY TRUCK CORP

Two bolts attaching the upper steering arm to the front steering axle were not tightened properly.

Remedy: Dealers will install new bolts and tighten to proper torque specification.

Checking a specific 1995 Volvo Fe

How do I know if my 1995 Volvo Fe has an open recall?

Enter your 17-character VIN above. The VIN is on the driver's side dashboard (visible through the windshield), the driver's door jamb sticker, and your registration or insurance card. The check runs against NHTSA's live database and tells you which campaigns list your vehicle. 5 campaigns currently list the 1995 Volvo Fe; your car may already have been repaired under some of them.

Is the recall repair free?

Yes. Under federal law, manufacturers must fix safety recalls at no charge for vehicles up to 15 years old from the date of sale to the first owner. Contact any authorised Volvo dealer with your VIN and the NHTSA campaign number (for example 95V119000).

What is the difference between a recall and a complaint?

A recall is a safety campaign filed by the manufacturer or ordered by NHTSA, with a defined defect and remedy. A complaint is a report an owner sent to NHTSA; it is not verified, but patterns of complaints are what trigger NHTSA investigations and, eventually, recalls.

Recall counts are safety campaigns that list this model year; whether a particular car was already repaired depends on its VIN. How this data is compiled.
