  1. Leaf (suspension)

NHTSA 79V193000 Reported 805 vehicles potentially affected VOLVO OF AMERICA CORP.

The involved vehicles have torque reaction leaves which are separated on one side of the rear suspension. Under severe conditions this separated torque reaction leaf will overstress the reaction leaf on the other side of the rear suspension.

Remedy: Dealer will inspect and replace left and right torque reaction leaves with modified design leaves at no cost to owner.

  2. Hoses, lines/piping, and fittings (service brakes)

NHTSA 77V044000 Reported 405 vehicles potentially affected VOLVO OF AMERICA CORP.

The involved vehicles have air brake hoses which fail to meet the adhesion requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 106, "brake hoses".

Remedy: Dealer will replace with improved brake hoses and will rotate the foot brake valve 120 degrees, free of charge.

  3. Latch (latches/locks/linkages)

NHTSA 76V019000 Reported 186 vehicles potentially affected VOLVO OF AMERICA CORP.

Checking a specific 1976 Volvo F86

How do I know if my 1976 Volvo F86 has an open recall?

Enter your 17-character VIN above. The VIN is on the driver's side dashboard (visible through the windshield), the driver's door jamb sticker, and your registration or insurance card. The check runs against NHTSA's live database and tells you which campaigns list your vehicle. 3 campaigns currently list the 1976 Volvo F86; your car may already have been repaired under some of them.

Is the recall repair free?

Yes. Under federal law, manufacturers must fix safety recalls at no charge for vehicles up to 15 years old from the date of sale to the first owner. Contact any authorised Volvo dealer with your VIN and the NHTSA campaign number (for example 76V019000).

What is the difference between a recall and a complaint?

A recall is a safety campaign filed by the manufacturer or ordered by NHTSA, with a defined defect and remedy. A complaint is a report an owner sent to NHTSA; it is not verified, but patterns of complaints are what trigger NHTSA investigations and, eventually, recalls.

Recall counts are safety campaigns that list this model year; whether a particular car was already repaired depends on its VIN. How this data is compiled.
