3 safety recalls for the 1995 Spartan Alpine

Most recent first. Recall repairs are free at any authorised dealer. Click a recall for the full defect, consequence and remedy text.

  1. Vehicle speed control

NHTSA 96V201000 Reported 7,633 vehicles potentially affected SPARTAN MOTORS, INC.

The eco-cruise actuator can bind the throttle.

Remedy: Dealers will remove these actuators until new or remanufactured units can be supplied.

  2. Fuses and circuit breakers (electrical system)

NHTSA 96V072000 Reported 741 vehicles potentially affected SPARTAN MOTORS, INC.

These solenoids can fail to operate or pass current. These solenoids are used to turn the power to the ignition bus bar(s) on the power panel(s) on and off.

Remedy: Dealers will replace these defective solenoids with an "automotive controls company" solenoid.

  3. Steering wheel/handle bar (steering)

NHTSA 96V014000 Reported 358 vehicles potentially affected SPARTAN MOTORS, INC.

Intermittent disruption of the functions controlled by the steering wheel center touch pad can occur caused by electrical shortage inside the steering wheel assembly. This does not conform to the requirements of FMVSS no. 104, "windhsield wiping and washing systems;" and no. 108, "lamps, reflective devices and associated equipment."

Remedy: Dealers will repair the steering wheel center control assemblies to eliminate the electrical shorting.

Checking a specific 1995 Spartan Alpine

How do I know if my 1995 Spartan Alpine has an open recall?

Enter your 17-character VIN above. The VIN is on the driver's side dashboard (visible through the windshield), the driver's door jamb sticker, and your registration or insurance card. The check runs against NHTSA's live database and tells you which campaigns list your vehicle. 3 campaigns currently list the 1995 Spartan Alpine; your car may already have been repaired under some of them.

Is the recall repair free?

Yes. Under federal law, manufacturers must fix safety recalls at no charge for vehicles up to 15 years old from the date of sale to the first owner. Contact any authorised Spartan dealer with your VIN and the NHTSA campaign number (for example 96V014000).

What is the difference between a recall and a complaint?

A recall is a safety campaign filed by the manufacturer or ordered by NHTSA, with a defined defect and remedy. A complaint is a report an owner sent to NHTSA; it is not verified, but patterns of complaints are what trigger NHTSA investigations and, eventually, recalls.

Recall counts are safety campaigns that list this model year; whether a particular car was already repaired depends on its VIN. How this data is compiled.
