Defect

On certain transit buses equipped with caterpillar c9 diesel engines, the turbocharger compressors are failing and oil can be discharged into the exhaust and external to the turbocharger.

Safety risk

A fire can occur.

Remedy

Caterpillar is conducting this recall (please see 06e047) and will repair the engines free of charge. Owners may contact caterpillar at 1-800-447-7332, or new flyer at 204-934-4876.
