  1. Coil springs (suspension)

NHTSA 00V063000 Reported 14,800 vehicles potentially affected NISSAN NORTH AMERICA, INC.

Vehicle description: passenger vehicles. The front coil springs may not have sufficient corrosion resistance in areas of the country where significant amounts of de-icing salts are applied to roads in the winter.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the front coil spring.

  2. Linkages (visibility)

NHTSA 98V093000 Reported 512,387 vehicles potentially affected NISSAN NORTH AMERICA, INC.

Vehicle description: passenger vehicles. Water can enter and displace the grease in the wiper arm linkage ball joint where the wiper linkage attaches to the wiper motor linkage.

Remedy: To prevent grease from being washed out of the joint, the dealers will modify by adding a water diversion seal that will prevent water from entering the windshield wiper linkage ball joint area.

  3. Antilock/traction control/electronic limited slip (service brakes)

NHTSA 95V028000 Reported 950 vehicles potentially affected NISSAN NORTH AMERICA, INC.

The anti-lock braking system (ABS) hydraulic actuator was not properly purged of all air during the fill and evacuation process causing air bubbles to get into the brake system.

Remedy: Dealers will bleed the ABS hydraulic actuator to remove any air bubbles in the brake system.

Checking a specific 1995 Nissan Sentra

How do I know if my 1995 Nissan Sentra has an open recall?

Enter your 17-character VIN above. The VIN is on the driver's side dashboard (visible through the windshield), the driver's door jamb sticker, and your registration or insurance card. The check runs against NHTSA's live database and tells you which campaigns list your vehicle. 3 campaigns currently list the 1995 Nissan Sentra; your car may already have been repaired under some of them.

Is the recall repair free?

Yes. Under federal law, manufacturers must fix safety recalls at no charge for vehicles up to 15 years old from the date of sale to the first owner. Contact any authorised Nissan dealer with your VIN and the NHTSA campaign number (for example 00V063000).

What is the difference between a recall and a complaint?

A recall is a safety campaign filed by the manufacturer or ordered by NHTSA, with a defined defect and remedy. A complaint is a report an owner sent to NHTSA; it is not verified, but patterns of complaints are what trigger NHTSA investigations and, eventually, recalls.

Recall counts are safety campaigns that list this model year; whether a particular car was already repaired depends on its VIN. How this data is compiled.
