  1. Service brakes, hydraulic: control unit/module and hoses, lines/piping, and fittings (service brakes)

NHTSA 25V216000 Reported 29 vehicles potentially affected McLaren Automotive Incorporated

McLaren Automotive Incorporated (McClaren) is recalling certain 2020-2025 600LT, 720S, Artura, GT, and GTS vehicles. The brake lines may be routed incorrectly and cause the brakes on the incorrect side to activate, possibly resulting in one of the rear wheels locking up.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect and correct the brake line connections as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on April 21, 2025. Owners may contact McClaren customer service at 1-646-429-8916.

  2. Latch (latches/locks/linkages)

NHTSA 24V661000 Reported 1,012 vehicles potentially affected McLaren Automotive Incorporated

McLaren Automotive Incorporated (McLaren) is recalling certain 2020-2023 McLaren GT vehicles. The manual release cable of the hood latch may have excessive tension that can cause the latch to open, resulting in the hood opening unexpectedly.

Remedy: McLaren will replace the hood latch, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 11, 2024. Owners may contact McLaren customer service at 855-202-8815.

  3. Air bags

NHTSA 22V103000 Reported 415 vehicles potentially affected McLaren Automotive Incorporated

McLaren Automotive Incorporated (McLaren) is recalling certain 2019-2021 McLaren GT vehicles. The driver's air bag and the occupant restraint controller may be improperly connected, which can result in a deactivated driver's air bag that will not deploy in a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect and repair the driver's air bag connection, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a schedule for recall notification. Owners may contact McLaren customer service at 1-646-429-8916.

Checking a specific 2021 McLaren GT

How do I know if my 2021 McLaren GT has an open recall?

Enter your 17-character VIN above. The VIN is on the driver's side dashboard (visible through the windshield), the driver's door jamb sticker, and your registration or insurance card. The check runs against NHTSA's live database and tells you which campaigns list your vehicle. 3 campaigns currently list the 2021 McLaren GT; your car may already have been repaired under some of them.

Is the recall repair free?

Yes. Under federal law, manufacturers must fix safety recalls at no charge for vehicles up to 15 years old from the date of sale to the first owner. Contact any authorised McLaren dealer with your VIN and the NHTSA campaign number (for example 22V103000).

What is the difference between a recall and a complaint?

A recall is a safety campaign filed by the manufacturer or ordered by NHTSA, with a defined defect and remedy. A complaint is a report an owner sent to NHTSA; it is not verified, but patterns of complaints are what trigger NHTSA investigations and, eventually, recalls.

Recall counts are safety campaigns that list this model year; whether a particular car was already repaired depends on its VIN. How this data is compiled.
