  1. Vehicle speed control

NHTSA 94V032000 Reported 39,777 vehicles potentially affected MACK TRUCKS, INCORPORATED

Fuel injection system reconfiguration to comply with engine emission standards cause higher engine vibration levels which lead to early wear and complete failure of the secondary throttle return mechanism.

Remedy: A new production secondary throttle return system configuration will be installed.

  2. Springs (suspension)

NHTSA 89V033000 Reported 152 vehicles potentially affected MACK TRUCKS, INCORPORATED

Dowels may have been omitted during spring cap installation; this would put shear load on the four (4) spring cap bolts.

Remedy: Install the missing dowels to prevent movement between the spring cap and axle housing.

  3. Seat belts: rear/other

NHTSA 89V024000 Reported 19 vehicles potentially affected MACK TRUCKS, INCORPORATED

  4. Seat belts

Checking a specific 1988 Mack Mh

How do I know if my 1988 Mack Mh has an open recall?

Enter your 17-character VIN above. The VIN is on the driver's side dashboard (visible through the windshield), the driver's door jamb sticker, and your registration or insurance card. The check runs against NHTSA's live database and tells you which campaigns list your vehicle. 4 campaigns currently list the 1988 Mack Mh; your car may already have been repaired under some of them.

Is the recall repair free?

Yes. Under federal law, manufacturers must fix safety recalls at no charge for vehicles up to 15 years old from the date of sale to the first owner. Contact any authorised Mack dealer with your VIN and the NHTSA campaign number (for example 88V147000).

What is the difference between a recall and a complaint?

A recall is a safety campaign filed by the manufacturer or ordered by NHTSA, with a defined defect and remedy. A complaint is a report an owner sent to NHTSA; it is not verified, but patterns of complaints are what trigger NHTSA investigations and, eventually, recalls.

Recall counts are safety campaigns that list this model year; whether a particular car was already repaired depends on its VIN. How this data is compiled.
