  1. Service brakes, air: control unit/module

NHTSA 78V076000 Reported 4,969 vehicles potentially affected PACCAR, INCORPORATED

The wrong operational amplifier was installed in the controller on the involved vehicles. If a certain capacitor in the controller should fail, the brakes on the axle on which the controller is located would fail. The brake warning light which would normally indicate a malfunction, would also be inoperative.

Remedy: The dealer will inspect and, if necessary, remove incorrect controller and install a new controller and wiring harness.

  2. Fifth wheel assembly (trailer hitches)

NHTSA 77V079000 Reported 67 vehicles potentially affected PACCAR, INCORPORATED

On the involved vehicles, the fifth wheel may have a cracked tube. A cracked cross tube may lead to failure of the fifth wheel.

Remedy: Dealer will inspect the tube for cracks. If necessary, the fifth wheel will be replaced, without charge to owner.

  3. Leaf spring assembly (suspension)

NHTSA 75V064000 Reported 25 vehicles potentially affected PACCAR, INCORPORATED

Checking a specific 1975 Kenworth Kenworth

How do I know if my 1975 Kenworth Kenworth has an open recall?

Enter your 17-character VIN above. The VIN is on the driver's side dashboard (visible through the windshield), the driver's door jamb sticker, and your registration or insurance card. The check runs against NHTSA's live database and tells you which campaigns list your vehicle. 3 campaigns currently list the 1975 Kenworth Kenworth; your car may already have been repaired under some of them.

Is the recall repair free?

Yes. Under federal law, manufacturers must fix safety recalls at no charge for vehicles up to 15 years old from the date of sale to the first owner. Contact any authorised Kenworth dealer with your VIN and the NHTSA campaign number (for example 75V064000).

What is the difference between a recall and a complaint?

A recall is a safety campaign filed by the manufacturer or ordered by NHTSA, with a defined defect and remedy. A complaint is a report an owner sent to NHTSA; it is not verified, but patterns of complaints are what trigger NHTSA investigations and, eventually, recalls.

Recall counts are safety campaigns that list this model year; whether a particular car was already repaired depends on its VIN. How this data is compiled.
