Stabilizer bar (suspension)
The nut securing the front sway bar to the lower control arm may become loose, causing the front suspension to fail.
Remedy: The existing nut will be replaced and tightened to the correct specifications. An additional locking nut will also be installed, without charge to owner.
-
Electrical system: rear compartment/trunk
The manufacturer has established that the tail lights may become inoperative due to possible oxidation of the wiring terminals caused by infiltration of water and dirt.
Remedy: Dealer will apply a protective paint and install a plastic cover over the exposed tail light wiring terminals.
-
Hoses, lines/piping, and fittings (fuel system)
The fuel lines from the fuel tank may contact the metal edge of a hole in the bulkhead, which can result in damage to the fuel lines. If the fuel lines are damaged, fuel could leak inside the passenger compartment.
Remedy: The rubber grommet at the rear bulkhead will be replaced with an improved type and will be repositioned, if necessary.

Checking a specific 1979 Fiat Strada
How do I know if my 1979 Fiat Strada has an open recall?
Enter your 17-character VIN above. The VIN is on the driver's side dashboard (visible through the windshield), the driver's door jamb sticker, and your registration or insurance card. The check runs against NHTSA's live database and tells you which campaigns list your vehicle. 3 campaigns currently list the 1979 Fiat Strada; your car may already have been repaired under some of them.
Is the recall repair free?
Yes. Under federal law, manufacturers must fix safety recalls at no charge for vehicles up to 15 years old from the date of sale to the first owner. Contact any authorised Fiat dealer with your VIN and the NHTSA campaign number (for example 79V093000).
What is the difference between a recall and a complaint?
A recall is a safety campaign filed by the manufacturer or ordered by NHTSA, with a defined defect and remedy. A complaint is a report an owner sent to NHTSA; it is not verified, but patterns of complaints are what trigger NHTSA investigations and, eventually, recalls.
