Suspension: lower arm
Front lower suspension arm forks could deform after substantial impacts, such as in an accident.
Remedy: Replace four front lower suspension arm forks with forks of a greater thickness.
-
Hoses/lines/piping/fittings (engine and engine cooling)
The flexible oil hoses for the engine oil radiator could leak engine oil due to insufficient clamping of the metal connectors to flexible portion of oil hose. Consequence of defect: lack of lubrication could cause severe engine damage; oil leakage could result in an engine fire.
Remedy: Replace lower and upper hoses connecting engine oil radiator with improved hoses. Also, update oil pressure regulating valve assembly.
-
Hoses, lines/piping, and fittings (fuel system)
Flexible rubber hose for return of fuel to right side fuel tank may chafe if positioned too close to metallic discharge connector of air conditioner compressor. Consequence of defect: fuel leakage could occur creating a fire potential.
Remedy: Reposition flexible fuel hose; replace if hose shows abrasion or damage.

Checking a specific 1986 Ferrari 328
How do I know if my 1986 Ferrari 328 has an open recall?
Enter your 17-character VIN above. The VIN is on the driver's side dashboard (visible through the windshield), the driver's door jamb sticker, and your registration or insurance card. The check runs against NHTSA's live database and tells you which campaigns list your vehicle. 3 campaigns currently list the 1986 Ferrari 328; your car may already have been repaired under some of them.
Is the recall repair free?
Yes. Under federal law, manufacturers must fix safety recalls at no charge for vehicles up to 15 years old from the date of sale to the first owner. Contact any authorised Ferrari dealer with your VIN and the NHTSA campaign number (for example 86V161000).
What is the difference between a recall and a complaint?
A recall is a safety campaign filed by the manufacturer or ordered by NHTSA, with a defined defect and remedy. A complaint is a report an owner sent to NHTSA; it is not verified, but patterns of complaints are what trigger NHTSA investigations and, eventually, recalls.
