  1. Filler pipe and cap (fuel system)

NHTSA 92V106000 Reported 20 vehicles potentially affected GENERAL MOTORS CORP.

The vehicles were assembled with an incorrect suspension upper spring seat at the right-rear position. If the vehicle is involved in a rear impact accident, the right-hand rear wheel house flange could sever the fuel tank filler pipe and spill fuel.

Remedy: Inspect and replace incorrect upper spring seat with the correct part.

  2. Recliner (seats)

NHTSA 91V182000 Reported 1,851 vehicles potentially affected GENERAL MOTORS CORP.

The passenger's side easy-entry seat adjuster may fail fully lock into position after the seat back has been tilted forward and the seat slid forward, then returned to its original postition.

Remedy: Replace the adjuster assembly on the seat.

  3. Column shift assembly (power train)

NHTSA 91V184000 Reported 1,573 vehicles potentially affected GENERAL MOTORS CORP.

A misadjustment of the park lock cable in the column shift assembly makes it possible for the steering column to lock while the vehicle is in motion and the ignition switch is in the off position.

Remedy: Adjust the park lock cable, and reroute and restrain the brake transmission shift interlock harness and connector.

Checking a specific 1992 Buick Skylark

How do I know if my 1992 Buick Skylark has an open recall?

Enter your 17-character VIN above. The VIN is on the driver's side dashboard (visible through the windshield), the driver's door jamb sticker, and your registration or insurance card. The check runs against NHTSA's live database and tells you which campaigns list your vehicle. 3 campaigns currently list the 1992 Buick Skylark; your car may already have been repaired under some of them.

Is the recall repair free?

Yes. Under federal law, manufacturers must fix safety recalls at no charge for vehicles up to 15 years old from the date of sale to the first owner. Contact any authorised Buick dealer with your VIN and the NHTSA campaign number (for example 91V182000).

What is the difference between a recall and a complaint?

A recall is a safety campaign filed by the manufacturer or ordered by NHTSA, with a defined defect and remedy. A complaint is a report an owner sent to NHTSA; it is not verified, but patterns of complaints are what trigger NHTSA investigations and, eventually, recalls.
