  1. Tank assembly (fuel system)

NHTSA 79V146000 Reported 23,000 vehicles potentially affected JAGUAR CARS

The possibility exists that, due to outside influences such as salt on the roads, the fuel tank may develop areas of corrosion which could eventually result in fuel leakage.

Remedy: Dealer will inspect for corrosion and, if necessary, replace the fuel tank at no cost to owner.

  2. Suspension: lower ball joint

NHTSA 78V258000 Reported 22,714 vehicles potentially affected JAGUAR CARS

Ball joints installed on the involved vehicles as replacement parts may have been incorrectly heat-treated during manufacture. These replacement ball joints may break without prior warning, causing the suspension to collapse.

Remedy: Dealer will inspect and, if necessary, replace the suspect ball joints at no cost to owner.

  3. Cables (vehicle speed control)

NHTSA 78V125000 Reported 10,330 vehicles potentially affected JAGUAR CARS

The accelerator cable could break due to the carburetor trunnion pin restricting the movement of the cable end. Should the accelerator stick in the open position or break, control over vehicle speed will be lost.

Remedy: The dealer will install a new trunnion pin and the accelerator linkage will be checked on all involved vehicles.

  4. Mounting (fuel system)

NHTSA 78V016000 Reported 20,661 vehicles potentially affected JAGUAR CARS

The fuel tank vent hose could crack and allow fumes to enter the trunk area, especially while filling the fuel tank. These fumes could permeate the trunk area and enter the passenger compartment.

Remedy: Dealer will replace fuel pumps on all affected vehicles without charge to owners.

  5. Lugs/nuts/bolts/studs (wheels)

NHTSA 73V188000 Reported 4,938 vehicles potentially affected JAGUAR CARS
  6. Tie rod assembly (steering)

NHTSA 73V146000 Reported 16 vehicles potentially affected JAGUAR CARS
  7. Suspension: lower arm

NHTSA 73V147000 Reported 125 vehicles potentially affected JAGUAR CARS

Checking a specific 1973 Austin Healey Marina

How do I know if my 1973 Austin Healey Marina has an open recall?

Enter your 17-character VIN above. The VIN is on the driver's side dashboard (visible through the windshield), the driver's door jamb sticker, and your registration or insurance card. The check runs against NHTSA's live database and tells you which campaigns list your vehicle. 7 campaigns currently list the 1973 Austin Healey Marina; your car may already have been repaired under some of them.

Is the recall repair free?

Yes. Under federal law, manufacturers must fix safety recalls at no charge for vehicles up to 15 years old from the date of sale to the first owner. Contact any authorised Austin Healey dealer with your VIN and the NHTSA campaign number (for example 73V146000).

What is the difference between a recall and a complaint?

A recall is a safety campaign filed by the manufacturer or ordered by NHTSA, with a defined defect and remedy. A complaint is a report an owner sent to NHTSA; it is not verified, but patterns of complaints are what trigger NHTSA investigations and, eventually, recalls.

Recall counts are safety campaigns that list this model year; whether a particular car was already repaired depends on its VIN. How this data is compiled.
