   On the involved vehicles, the steering column adapter can contact and eventually cut through the steering shaft.

   Remedy: Dealer will inspect and, if necessary, replace the steering shaft, without charge to owner.

   Model years: 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977

   NHTSA 77V021000 Reported February 14, 1977 6 vehicles potentially affected WHITE MOTOR CORPORATION

   A "speed nut", which retains the steering column boot to the toeboard, can cut through the steering column.

   Remedy: A new design steering column adapter will be installed on all affected vehicles. If steering column is damaged, it will be replaced.
