Defect

Navistar is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 ic bus be and ce and certain model year 2012 re school buses manufactured from april 8, 2010 through july 1, 2011, equipped with c. E. White seat cushions. The self-latching mechanism used to retain the seat cushion to the frame may not activate. Thus, these seats fail to conform to the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard number 222, "school bus passenger seating and crash protection."

Safety risk

If the seat cushion is not securely latched to the seat structure, the seat could become dislodged, increasing the risk of injury to the vehicle occupants.

Remedy

Navistar will notify owners, and dealers will repair the seats free of charge. Owners may contact navistar at 260-461-1890.
