Defect

Certain flatbed, dump, truck dolly, unloader, frameless, and pup trailers fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 121, "air brake systems." these vehicles have inaccurate weight-related information on the certification labels.

Safety risk

If that inaccurate information is relied upon by the owner of the vehicle, then extra weight loaded onto a vehicle could affect the air brake system performance.

Remedy

Dealers will correct the certification label. Owner notification is expected to begin during september or october 2002. Owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact east manufacturing at 1-330-325-9921.

Notes

Customers can also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's auto safety hotline at 1-888-dash-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).
