    NHTSA 88V104000 Reported 2,968 vehicles potentially affected FREIGHTLINER CORP.

    Rear axle must be rerated from its present 21,200 lbs. Gawr to 20,000 lbs. As the maximum load carrying capacity of the axle to comply with FMVSS 121.

    Remedy: Rerate rear axle to 20,000 gawr.

  2. Hoses, lines/piping, and fittings (service brakes)

    NHTSA 85V020000 Reported 4,000 vehicles potentially affected FREIGHTLINER CORP.

    A steel tube that delivers air to the front axle air brake chamber can contact the front shock absorber. Consequence of defect: repeated contact can wear a hole in the tube, causing air pressure to be lost during brake application. This could result in impaired braking capability and an accident.

    Remedy: Reroute steel tube and/or replace, as necessary.
