Fifth wheel assembly (trailer hitches)
On certain trucks equipped with a saf holland simplex fifth wheel, the lever arm pivot bolt may have been over tightened. An over tightened pivot bolt can distort the pivot bolt spacer sleeve, which may prevent the fifth wheel latch jaw from closing and latching securely around the trailer king pin.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the pivot bolt and sleeve with a hex head shoulder bolt and washer free of charge. The recall began on january 28, 2008. Owners may contact mack trucks at 1-800-528-6586.
No owner complaints on file

The check runs against NHTSA's live database and tells you which campaigns list your vehicle. 1 campaign currently lists the 2008 Mack Cxp; your car may already have been repaired under it.
Is the recall repair free?
Yes. Under federal law, manufacturers must fix safety recalls at no charge for vehicles up to 15 years old from the date of sale to the first owner. Contact any authorised Mack dealer with your VIN and the NHTSA campaign number (for example 07V497000).
What is the difference between a recall and a complaint?
A recall is a safety campaign filed by the manufacturer or ordered by NHTSA, with a defined defect and remedy. A complaint is a report an owner sent to NHTSA; it is not verified, but patterns of complaints are what trigger NHTSA investigations and, eventually, recalls.
